Studying Fine Arts at Caen is a superb start, then working
for ten years at Honfleur makes for a perfect apprenticeship
in the art of painting. Jean-Claude QUINETTE has profited
from the lessons learned in Honfleur, employing the charm
of its' atmosphere in his later work in Brittany, before
finally settling in his studio in his home town of VILLEDIEU.
When he paints in oils, a solidity transgresses
both rural landscapes and calm seascapes -' not to mention
his outstanding still-lifes.
But when J.C.QUINETTE paints in water-colour,
such serenity flows into his work! A poetic impact in his
pictures and a lightness of touch brings subjects to life,
whilst retaining the wash of romanticism which sets his
work apart.
His work remains classic in its' construction,
but his personality always shines through. A master's touch
in the play of light carresses his subjects.....from sultry
nudes to floral bouquets, reflections on the sea, mysterious
storm clouds and peaceful countryside - all treated with
the surety and conviction of a confirmed artist.
